Not My Day...

Today has not been my day, at all.  As I got ready to post that on my Facebook today I was reminded of something a friend said once.  She said "today is just not my day" and someone told her "Of course not, today is the day that the Lord has made, it doesn't belong to you."  And there it is, scriptural truth in the most unexpected of places.

Psalm 118:24 This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.  Yeah, there's a lot to be said for realizing that God isn't catering to you, today was made for his glory and not ours.  Now how do you reconcile a day when it feels like you've been repeatedly punched in the gut with seeing God's glory through it all?  For that, we have to turn to God's word....

Psalm 55:22 - Leave your troubles with the Lord, and he will defend you; he never lets honest people be defeated.  (Most people know that verse as Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.)

James 5:13 - Are any among you in trouble?  They should pray.  Are any among you happy?  They should sing praises.

These are just a couple of verses that came to mind; but overall I needed to remember that this is the Lord's day, not Jodi's day!!

  1. I'm so sorry today has been so rough. I'll be praying tomorrow is a better one!

  2. I honestly believe that God gives us more than we can handle solely so we become completely dependent upon HIm.
