Family Scripture Reading:
Matthew 1:1-17
"Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus."
Family Discussion Suggestion:
Rather than reading every name on the list of the genealogy of Christ, help your children look through the list and see if they recognize some of the names such as Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Jesse, King David and Solomon. Make note of the only women in the list. Who are they?
Advent Activity:
Super easy family tree to go along with today's reading. Simply get a piece of paper and trace your child's hand. Let them write their name in the middle and the names of their grandparents on the fingers. They can add more names above the fingers if they wish. Talk about interesting family memories or tell them an interesting fact about their grandparents. This is to help them understand their personal genealogy as well as Christ's.
